Project 4

Prevenep, participatory research & design for a scientific study on premature newborns

Client - Instituto Ramón y Cajal de Investigación Sanitaria

Role - Lead user researcher and designer

Objectives - The project was developed by the research team at the Clinical Biostatistics Unit of Ramón y Cajal Hospital in collaboration with researchers, midwives, gynaecologists, 12 hospitals, and research centres. It arose from the need to validate a predictive model that would help reduce risks in newborns. To ensure that the study results are representative and valid, an innovative approach was proposed that integrates the PPIE (Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement) methodology with people-centred design principles. The goal was to actively involve mothers and future mothers in the research process, ensuring that their voices, concerns, and needs are present from the beginning of the study to the communication of results.

Approach

  • Focus groups

  • Collaborative workshops with medical teams

  • Design of informative materials for participants of the scientific study

  • Brand design

  • Web design
